A Tree Grows in the Bronx

St. James Episcopal Church Fordham, the oldest Episcopal congregation in the northwest Bronx, has entered into partnership with the New York Restoration Project and their MillionTreesNYC initiative.
As a result of this agreement, NYRP will plant three linden trees on the landmark church’s grounds at 11 AM on Tuesday, May 3. Saint James Church suffered damage to trees on its grounds in the recent windstorm, and is glad to be able to add to the sum total of New York City trees through this cooperative effort.
An earlier member of the congregation, Mayor of New York Franklin Edson, was responsible for setting aside much of the present day parkland of the Bronx in the late nineteenth century, and the present church members are pleased to carry on the tradition of keeping New York City green.
